Jacob Marschak Papers, 1930-1980

Jacob Marschak (1898-1977) was a professor of economics and operations research at the UCLA Graduate School of Management (1960- ). He helped develop the information theory of economics and was a leading researcher in econometrics. The collection consists of Marschak's correspondence, manuscripts and working papers, reprints, notes and teaching materials.

Marschak was born on July 23, 1898 in Kiev, Russia; attended the Technical Institute of Kiev, 1916-18, and the Univ. of Berlin, 1919; received his doctorate at the Univ. of Heidelberg in 1922; taught at Heidelberg, Oxford, the Univ. of Chicago, and Yale Univ. before becoming a professor of economics and operations research at the UCLA Graduate School of Management in 1960; helped develop the information theory of economics and was a leading researcher in econometrics; published books include Eco...
